Guide to find The Best Golf Travel Case
As golf seasons fade, golf trips usually increase. If this is the case, or if you just travel a lot with your golf clubs you would want them properly protected.
An investment in a golf travel bag is also an investment in keeping your golf clubs in a better state and to make them last longer. A travel bag is not only for when travelling by plane but is highly usable when packing in your car, taking the train or otherwise.
Usually a travel case offers a flexible and easy way to carry your clubs, as well as offering pockets and space to store golf related items such as golf balls and your golf shoes.

We will guide you through sizes, variations and what to look for when investing in a travel bag, but it really comes down to preference. Some like hard covers but may feel they take up too much space when not in use and others like soft, but padded, covers that is easily chunked away in a box somewhere.

6 Things to look for when buying your Golf Travel Bag!
1. Size of The Golf Travel Bag
This is probably a non-question but that needs adressing. The size of all quality bag is made to fit all carry stand-up bags and most pushcart bags. By most we mean all but we say “most” to give us some margin of error for really oversized ones.
You probably won’t find a travel bag that will fit two golf bags since no airline would accept them as check-in luggage anyway.
2. Pockets – How many and how big are the pockets for my golf travel bag?
On to a really good question. Pockets on your golf travel bag can make your travels so much easier. You can put luggage that may not fit into your suitcase (i.e. books, clothes or other accessories) that is way more accessible than if you would just put them loose straight into the travel bag.
Oversized pockets for shoes, rainclothes or golf balls are also a real gift for those long trips that require a lot of stuff or short weekends where you would rather not bring that extra suitcase.
3. Sturdy Wheels for your Travel Bag
If the wheels breake, the travel bag becomes unusable (pretty much). We therefore want to stress that the quality of your purchase will probably and hopefully result in a better bag, more durable wheels and a better long time investement.
4. What’s the difference between a Cheap or Premium Golf Travel Bag?
The biggest and most clear-cut difference is the padding on the inside. With cheaper bags, you will porbably notice the lack of padding and to be honest, if there is no padding you could might as well not use a travel case.
A more premium case will have padding all around, increased padding around the club heads and steardy material around the bottom for increased balance and for support around the wheels.
As mentioned in the previous point, cheaper bags will probably result in weaker wheels and may require you to buy a whole new bag.
5. Protect your Golf Clubs by investing in a premium Golf Travel Case
You have probably spent a lot of money on both your golf clubs and your golf bag. This reason alone should warrant anyone who cares about their belongings to look into a golf travel bag that protects your clubs to the fullest.
A Golf Driver alone is more expensive than even the most premium travel bags and therefore – an investment in a golf travel bag is an investment in your golf clubs!
6. Do Airlines pay for Broken Golf Clubs?
You have probably heard heart breaking stories of travellers checking in their golf bags only to find them damaged or even broken at the luggage claim. Stories like this makes you question if you should even travel with your bag at all.
But do not be discouraged, you will probably only hear about the horror cases and not the millions of succesful golf trips. But it is another reason to get a good travel bag that proberly protects your golf clubs.
And yes – poorly handled luggage should be reimbursed by airlines. But we all know what a painful process that could be and you probably wont get the full value back in return. So make sure they are protected!

Hi
I have a question?
I want to order a new travel bag but I am considering either one with a hard case or soft case. Either way, is it really necessary or can I just buy protective clubhead covers?
Sincerely
It depends on your budget of course, but all it takes is one broken club for you to get your moneys worth. I’d buy one, definitely.
